2017 Turkey Trot 5k Run Walk & Gobble Wobble Fun Mile

Join us for the sixth annual Turkey Trot, presented by Coastal Pediatrics, featuring a race for every age and ability! Choose from the 5K (professionally timed but walker-friendly), the Family Fun Mile, the Tot Trot, or the Diaper Dash!

Burn off that pumpkin pie and create a tradition of giving back to the community this holiday season at the Sixth Annual Kids First Turkey Trot! The event features a race for every age and ability, so bring the whole family!

Online registration is available through Run the East through Wednesday, November 22nd. To obtain a mail in registration form e-mail  You can also register in person on race morning starting at 8 am.

Diaper Dash: Open to infants of crawling age. “Heats” will be instituted if necessary, and the top three dashers will win goodie bags!

Tot Trot: For children under age 5, this event will consist of an untimed, just-for-fun lap around Waterfront Park. All participants will receive a small prize.

Schedule of Events:
5K Packet Pick-Up & Registration: 8:00-8:45am
5K Start: 9:00am
5K Awards: 9:45am
Gobble Wobble, Tot Trot, & Diaper Dash Registration/Check-in: 9:30-10:00am
Diaper Dash Start: 10:00am
Tot Trot Start: 10:10am
“Gobble Wobble” Family Fun Mile Start: 10:15am


T-shirts are guaranteed to preregistered 5K participants only (must register by Friday, Nov. 17th). A limited number of t-shirts will be available for purchase on race day for $10.

Awards: will be given to the top 3 male and female 5K finishers overall and in the following age categories: under 18, 18-29, 30-44, 45-59, and 60+. All children who complete the “Gobble Wobble” Family Fun Mile will receive a prize.

Timing: 5K scoring provided by Run The East. Results will be posted shortly after the last finishers, and online at

Safety Information:

♦ Only the road at the start/finish line is completely closed to vehicle traffic. There are sidewalks on part, but not all, of the course. Please be aware of vehicle traffic around you and exercise caution during the race.
♦ This event is rain or shine, please dress accordingly. Light layers are recommended.
♦ Well-behaved dogs on leash are permitted.
♦ Strollers are permitted.
♦ Headphones are strongly discouraged for your safety.
♦ Children must be accompanied on the course by an adult at all times.

Course: Both courses begin on Water St. The 5K is a USATF-certified, partially shaded, flat course that loops through the Riverside Ave. area. The“ Gobble Wobble” is an out-and-back course. The “Diaper Dash” & “Tot Trot” take place inside Waterfront Park. Click here to view a course map.

Parking: is available at Charles Creek Park, as well as the public parking lot between Church and Ehringhaus Streets. Parking will not be available within Waterfront Park as the road is closed for runners' safety. Please do not use the Museum of the Albemarle parking lot.

Come out and enjoy an evening of music at the Morris Farm Market to benefit Kids First! There will also be food vendors on site. Tickets are $10 (and include entry into a raffle for a 2-night stay in Corolla!) and can be purchased at Morris Farm Market or at Clown n Around on Poindexter Street in Downtown Elizabeth City. Presented by Albemarle Hospital: enjoy a FREE lunch at Montero's Restaurant while hearing a presentation from Dr. Jennifer Brown, child abuse prevention specialist, on methods for keeping children safe and healthy. Camden County Sheriff's Office is sponsoring this event, which will teach parents about internet bullying and ways to keep children safe from sexual content and sexual predators while online. The use of social media such as MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter will be discussed, and there will be a period at the end of the presentation for questions.

The United Methodist Women of the Newland United Methodist Church are hosting this presentation, and have invited the general public to attend. "The Socially Skilled Child Molester" will help attendees to understand and recognize the patterns of sexual offenders, in the hopes that they will then be able to prevent such predators from infiltrating their lives.
